The Basin
The lock keepers duties included Toll Collection
and maintenance of the basin, canal towpath and hedgerows.

Thames & Severn canal on left; entrance to
Basin on right under bridge.

To navigate the canal Alfred had a very basic, flat bottomed punt.
Daughter Biddy in the punt at the junction of the two canals.
The Thames and Severn is behind her.

Frozen over basin, looking from the lock.
